KAFEP is a community-based  organisation established in 2017 and registered (JJA/10/2017/0067[483]) to ensure that elderly people enjoy good welfare and health care and remain valued and loved by society where they live.

STRATEGY

Recruitment of more members, open up national and international partnerships and networks.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • KAFEP registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) under registration no. JJA/10/2017/0067(483)
  • Secured KAFEP operational office.
  • Recruited 12 board members.
  • Registered over 10,000 elderly people.
  • Recruited field coordinator and 5 support staffS.
  • Surveyed 3000 elderly people regarding their needs.
  • Registered 3 partners.
  • Performed outreach to 15 elderly people within the Eastern Region.
  • Provided 100 boxes of soap, 3 tonnes of sugar, 80 boxes of detergents, 40 boxes of pampers, and 8 pairs of crutches to elderly people.
  • Helped 20 elderly people clean their clothes, bedsheets, and houses.
  • Established a network of 5 elderly counselors in Jinja District.
  • Provided counseling and guidance to X elderly people.

FUTURE PLANS

  • Establishing a coordinating centre for elderly people in Uganda
  • Procurement of an ambulance, elderly shuttle van, motorcycle for field officers
  • Having joint capacity building workshops (sponsors, executive and partners).
  • We need exposure visits and change programs.
  • Commemorate the elderly days like tree planting, sports day and cultural day, network centre and interaction centre.
  • Establishing elderly homes for those neglected and those with no where to stay.
  • Procuring land for income generating projects which can assist elderly people to change diet and economically e.g. bakery, piggery, poultry, and farming beans, maize, cassava, potato and banana etc.
  • Buying essential commodities like food, clothing, blankets, bed sheet, nets, sugar etc.
  • Recruiting more elderly people and giving them help.
  • Connect partners, funders, donors, grants, from different companies, government and countries.
